（1）国名、城市名、地名、人名等专有名词前通常不用冠词。
例:Beijingis the capital ofChina.
（2）在表示季节、月份、星期等名词前不用冠词。
例: I lovespringbecause it is warm.
（我喜欢春天,因为天气很暖和。）
例: We go to school fromMondaytoFriday.
（我们周一到周五上学。）
（3）在表示三餐、球类运动、棋类游戏和科学名称等名词前不用冠词。
例: What would you like fordinner? （晚餐你想吃什么?）
例: We often playbasketballafter school.
（放学后我们经常打篮球。）
例: Let's playchessafter lunch.（午饭后我们下棋吧。）
例: Among all of the subjects, I likePEbest.
（4）不可数名词前不加冠词时，表示一般的概念或泛指。
例:Wateris important to us. （水对我们是很重要的。）
例: Don't play withfire. （不要玩火。）
（5）复数名词表泛指，表示一类人或事物时不用冠词。
例:Doctorsandnursesshould save lives.
（医生和护士应当救死扶伤。）
（6）在称呼或表示头衔、职位等的名词前不用冠词。
例:Doctor,I'm not feeling myself today.
（大夫，我今天感觉有些不适。）
（7）当两个或两个以上名词并用时，常省去冠词。
例: I can't write withoutpenorpencil.
（没有钢笔或铅笔，我就写不了字。）
（8）当名词前用有this, that, his, my等其他修饰词时不用冠词。
例:This ismybag. （这是我的书包。）
例:I havethreepens.
（9）在固定短语中表示特殊意义时不用冠词。
例: by bike in hospital
